SASSA Self-Service System Restored, Bringing Relief to Beneficiaries

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that its self-service system is now fully operational after experiencing technical disruptions that affected beneficiaries across the country. The earlier glitches caused delays in completing eLife Certification and led to long queues at local offices.

With the system restored, beneficiaries can once again verify their life status online through the SASSA Services Portal. This digital platform allows users to complete the process from home using secure biometric verification, eliminating the need for physical visits.

SASSA has encouraged beneficiaries with access to digital devices to make use of the system, as it saves time, reduces transport costs, and eases congestion at service points. The agency also emphasised that life certification remains a legal requirement and must be completed annually or when requested.

The restored system is expected to improve efficiency, enhance security, and ensure that social grants are paid to the correct recipients on time.
