Fraud and corruption-accused Ekurhuleni City Manager, Kagiso Lerutla, is expected to return to work on Monday, 18 May, after temporarily stepping aside following his arrest.
Lerutla, a chartered accountant who was appointed as the metro’s city manager in late 2025, has been on special leave since April. His return comes while he and suspended EMPD deputy chief, Julius Mkhwanazi, continue to face criminal charges. Their matter was postponed in the Boksburg Regional Court and is expected back in court on 9 June.
