ActionSA has welcomed the reappointment of Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi as the South African Police Service (SAPS) Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, describing the move as a significant step in strengthening the fight against crime and corruption.
In a statement released on Sunday, ActionSA leader and Johannesburg mayoral candidate, Herman Mashaba, praised Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi’s leadership, calling it “exemplary and patriotic” in the ongoing battle to restore integrity within the country’s criminal justice system.
Mashaba said Mkhwanazi’s return to the role signals a renewed commitment to tackling crime in one of South Africa’s most crime-affected provinces. He added that public servants across the country should emulate Mkhwanazi’s stance against corruption in order to rebuild trust in state institutions.
The party further highlighted Mkhwanazi’s role in exposing weaknesses within the justice system, particularly in light of recent revelations emerging from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. These revelations, according to ActionSA, have shed light on the extent to which criminal networks and corrupt officials have infiltrated key structures of governance.
“Mkhwanazi is a light standing on a hill for millions of South Africans who are desperate to rebuild what has been systemically broken by beneficiaries of corruption,” said Mashaba.
ActionSA concluded by expressing confidence in Mkhwanazi’s ability to lead with integrity and wished him strength and wisdom in his continued efforts to create a safer and more secure society.
