Nasiphi Moya Apologises After Hammanskraal Meeting Is Postponed

Residents of Hammanskraal have been left frustrated after a scheduled meeting addressing the ongoing water crisis was abruptly postponed, prompting an apology from the city of Tshwane’s mayor.

Dr Nasiphi Moya issued a public apology, expressing regret over the disruption and explaining the circumstances that led to the cancellation. According to Moya, she had been delayed while attending an imbizo with informal traders and had requested MMC Boshielo to begin the meeting in her absence.

However, while en route to Hammanskraal, Moya said she was informed that the meeting had been adjourned due to safety concerns. This decision sparked disappointment among residents who had gathered to engage officials on the persistent water issues affecting the area.

“We will consult with colleagues in Hammanskraal to set another date,” Moya said, adding that the delay was not intended as a sign of disrespect. She explained that the earlier engagement with traders had overrun and could not be concluded without formally adjourning.

The postponement comes amid growing concern from the community over prolonged water challenges, with residents eager for clear solutions and accountability from authorities. A new meeting date is expected to be announced following consultations with local stakeholders.
