The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng has successfully carried out a provincial enforcement operation targeting illegal liquor trading.
The operation, conducted on 19 March 2026 under Operation Shanela, focused on non-compliant businesses within various precincts.
Acting in terms of the Gauteng Liquor Act, officers shut down four illegal liquor outlets found to be operating unlawfully.
Authorities also confiscated two refrigerators used to store and sell illegal alcohol during the operation.
SAPS says the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to enforce liquor laws and ensure businesses comply with regulations across the province.
