“He Was Her Boyfriend”: Family’s Heartbreak as Suspect Arrested in Mamelodi Cousins’ Murder

In a devastating new development, the family of two young cousins brutally murdered in Mamelodi has revealed that the prime suspect arrested by police was the boyfriend of one of the victims. The revelation adds a chilling layer of betrayal to the tragedy that has shaken the community.

The aunt of 21-year-old Baleseng and 22-year-old Tshiamo Moramaga shared the family’s anguish, stating she believes Baleseng was killed while trying to protect her sister during a violent altercation. “The suspect was Tshiamo’s boyfriend,” the aunt confirmed, painting a picture of a night that began normally and ended in a double homicide.

The two cousins, described as being as close as twins, had moved to Mamelodi together to build a better life. Their dreams were cut short in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 38-year-old suspect, who also faces an attempted murder charge for shooting a third victim, is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday.

The family’s grief is now mixed with a searing anger, so profound that the aunt expressed she does not even want to face the alleged killer in court, leaving them to grapple with an unimaginable loss rooted in intimate partner violence.
