“A Significant Step”: Kubayi Hails Progress as Two Suspects in AKA Murder Case Drop Extradition Fight

In a major breakthrough in the high-profile investigation into the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has welcomed the news that two key suspects have withdrawn their appeal against extradition from Eswatini.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that brothers Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande have abandoned their legal bid to remain in the kingdom. This decision removes a significant hurdle, paving the way for Eswatini authorities to finalise the procedures for their handover to South Africa.

Minister Kubayi hailed the development, praising the “cooperation between South African and Eswatini officials” that has been instrumental in advancing the case. The suspects are wanted in connection with the brutal February 2023 shooting of AKA and his close friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, outside a popular restaurant in Durban.

The withdrawal of the extradition appeal marks a critical juncture in a case that has gripped the nation and drawn intense public scrutiny. For over a year, authorities have been piecing together the events that led to the double murder, and the potential return of the Ndimande brothers is seen as a vital step toward achieving justice for the families of the victims and a public eager for answers.
