The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued a recall of about 110 Lexus LX500D vehicles in South Africa due to a potential transmission defect that could lead to power loss, fluid leaks, and increased risks of crashes or fire.
The affected models, distributed by Lexus South Africa Motors between March 2025 and January 2026, may experience a failure in communication between key control units, causing over-revving and possible damage.
Owners are urged to take their vehicles to authorised dealerships for a free repair, as the NCC continues to monitor the recall.
“If a solenoid failure occurs under certain driving conditions, the Transmission ECU and Engine ECU may not communicate the failure, resulting in over-revving and potential damage. This could lead to a loss of power while driving and increase safety risks, including the possibility of a crash or fire.”
