The City of Tshwane has confirmed that its technical teams are working around the clock to stabilise the water supply from the Mabopane Main Reservoir, following ongoing challenges in the area.
According to the municipality, the disruptions stem from exceptionally high water consumption levels, which have placed immense pressure on the system feeding the Mabopane reservoirs. While the city initially maintained supply, reservoir levels have since dropped significantly and are now struggling to recover.
Technical teams have been deployed to monitor the system and implement operational measures to restore normal supply. The city stated that the heavy demand has strained the network, prompting urgent interventions to protect infrastructure and manage resources efficiently.
As a short-term response, Tshwane has implemented throttling of the outgoing water supply to allow reservoir levels to recover. Residents are urged to use water sparingly during this period to help stabilise the system more quickly.
“The city appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents as efforts continue to restore normal water pressure,” the municipality said in a statement.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by joining the city’s official WhatsApp channels for updates and service delivery notices.
