TMPD impounds illegal public transport vehicles during enforcement operation

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has impounded 17 minibuses and one e-hailing vehicle during operations aimed at tackling illegal public transport and by-law violations in parts of Tshwane.

The operation, which took place in Pretoria West, also involved inspections at both formal and informal businesses to check compliance with health, safety and municipal regulations.

During the inspections, several notices were issued for violations related to business operations, fire safety and food safety legislation.

TMPD spokesperson Puleng Motholo said the department remains committed to enforcing the law and protecting residents by acting against illegal operations and businesses that fail to comply with regulations.

Motholo said the TMPD will continue to ensure that legal protocols are followed and will not tolerate unlawful behaviour that puts the lives of Tshwane residents at risk.
