A body has been recovered after a shack fire broke out at the Plastic View Informal Settlement in Moreleta Park, east of Pretoria, during the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to Tshwane Emergency Services, the deceased was discovered during search and recovery operations among the burnt debris. Firefighters believe the victim was unable to escape the flames.
Emergency teams are still conducting mop-up and search operations at the scene. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
