DA Launches Voter Registration Campaign in Tshwane Ahead of 2026 Local Elections

The Democratic Alliance (DA) wrapped up its voter registration rally in Eersterust, Tshwane, on Saturday with a strong message centred on governance, accountability, and preparations for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The event drew hundreds of supporters and featured entertainment from local artists Phindi Maphendola and Refentse Morake, who kept the crowd energised ahead of speeches from the party’s top leadership.

Delivering the keynote address, DA Federal Leader and the party’s next presidential candidate, Geordin Hill-Lewis, said the DA remains committed to ending corruption in South Africa. He highlighted the devastating impact corruption has had on service delivery, economic growth, and the daily lives of ordinary citizens.

Hill-Lewis told supporters that the DA is ready to bring accountable and transparent leadership to government, arguing that South Africans deserve a government that prioritises service delivery and responsible management of public funds.

Former Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink also addressed the rally, expressing his desire to return to lead the City of Tshwane. Brink said he wants another opportunity to serve as mayor, adding that this time he intends to do things differently while continuing efforts to improve governance and service delivery in the capital city.

Veteran DA leader Helen Zille received loud applause when she delivered a message of unity and collective responsibility to the crowd.

“My child is your child, and your child is my child. We can win all the metros in Gauteng,” Zille told supporters.

The rally marked the official launch of the DA’s voter registration campaign in Tshwane as the party seeks to mobilise supporters ahead of next year’s municipal elections. Party leaders urged residents to register to vote and play an active role in shaping the future of their communities.

With the 2026 Local Government Elections approaching, the DA used the event to present itself as a party focused on clean governance, service delivery, and economic growth, while calling on voters to support its vision for municipalities across Gauteng and the rest of South Africa.
