Broadcasting veteran Thato Sikwane, popularly known as DJ Fresh, is officially making a major return to breakfast radio after joining Kaya959 as the host of its flagship weekday morning show.
The station confirmed that DJ Fresh will begin hosting the breakfast slot from 1 July 2026, airing weekdays from 06:00 to 09:00 alongside his long-time producer and collaborator, Thato Mataboge.
DJ Fresh is regarded as one of South Africa’s most influential radio personalities, with a career spanning more than two decades. He first gained national recognition on YFM before joining 5FM where he became one of the station’s biggest stars. He later moved to METRO FM where he hosted the hugely popular “Fresh Breakfast” show and became a dominant voice on Gauteng airwaves.
Known for his energetic personality, humour, fearless opinions, and ability to connect with listeners, DJ Fresh built a loyal fanbase across the country while also growing his brand as a club DJ, music producer, entrepreneur, and television personality.
The announcement has already sparked major excitement on social media, with many listeners describing the move as one of the biggest radio shake-ups of the year
