Top Democratic Alliance leaders descended in Winterveldt today to show support for an elderly rape victim.
Elizabeth 80 was raped and assaulted in 2023 in Mpho Area in Winterveldt, and three years later, the matter is still ongoing.
An 80-year-old victim, Elizabeth, could not control her emotions throughout the speeches, as she fought back tears, surrounded by community members to offer their support.
It has emerged that the investigator handling the case has not made contact or visited the victim, despite the gravity of the matter and the attention it has attracted from surrounding communities.
Speaking to Makopo News from Winterveldt, Ward Councillor Rethabile Vilakazi said rape and abuse cases are widespread in her ward, adding that they have been showing support to all victims.
