President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to table the Presidency’s Budget Vote 1 in the National Assembly at 14:00 today, outlining the priorities and planned expenditure of the Presidency for the 2026/27 financial year.
The budget presentation will take place at the Parliament Dome in Cape Town and is expected to focus on key Government of National Unity (GNU) priorities, including economic growth, poverty reduction, and the building of a capable, ethical and developmental state.
According to the Presidency, the budget will support efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and drive initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for South Africans amid ongoing economic challenges.
Following the tabling of the budget vote, Members of Parliament will debate the proposed allocations and priorities. President Ramaphosa is then expected to return to the National Assembly on Wednesday at 15:00 to respond to the debate and address issues raised by MPs.
The budget vote forms an important part of Parliament’s oversight process, allowing lawmakers to scrutinise the Presidency’s spending plans and assess how they align with the government’s objectives.
