Taxi Boss Joe Sibanyoni Granted Bail Alongside Three Co-Accused

Taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni and three co-accused have been granted bail of R70 000 each by the Delmas magistrates court following their recent appearance.

Sibanyoni, also known as “Joe Ferrari,” is accused of extortion and money laundering linked to allegations that a Mpumalanga businessman was forced to pay more than R2 million in so-called “protection fees” between 2022 and 2025 for his mining business to operate without disruptions.

The accused have denied the allegations and are expected to plead not guilty when the matter proceeds.

The case has been postponed to 10 July 2026 for pre-trial proceedings, with further developments expected when the matter returns to court.
