Rosemary Ndlovu and Co-Accused Found Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Convicted serial killer and former police officer Rosemary Ndlovu has been found guilty once again, this time alongside her co-accused Nomsa Mudau, in a chilling murder-for-hire plot that targeted Mudau’s ex-husband for a staggering R3 million life insurance payout. The verdict, delivered on Wednesday morning in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, sent shockwaves through the packed gallery, where family members of potential victims sat visibly shaken. Evidence presented before Magistrate Renisha Govender revealed a meticulously planned conspiracy dating back to 2018, when Ndlovu—already out on bail for the murders of six relatives, including her own mother and sister—allegedly used her inside knowledge of police investigations to coach Mudau on hiring hitmen. According to the state’s case, Mudau approached multiple assassins to kill her former spouse, with Ndlovu providing strategic advice on avoiding detection, including instructions to use untraceable phones and cash-only payments. The plot was uncovered through intercepted communications and testimony from would-be hitmen who backed out. Neither Ndlovu nor Mudau showed visible emotion as the guilty verdicts were read. Ndlovu is already serving six life sentences for the murders of five relatives and her ex-boyfriend between 2012 and 2018, making her one of South Africa’s most prolific female serial killers. Sentencing proceedings for this new conviction are scheduled to begin next week. The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed it will seek additional life terms, arguing that Ndlovu “remains a grave danger to society” even from behind bars. Mudau faces a lengthy prison sentence as well. The victims’ families wept and embraced outside court.
