Five suspects have been arrested after a jewellery store robbery in Brooklyn, Tshwane, on Wednesday morning.
The suspects, aged between 32 and 38, allegedly robbed the store before hijacking a vehicle to escape. They were later tracked down and arrested in the Pretoria CBD through a joint operation involving police and private security.
During the incident, one security officer and three of the suspects were shot and taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Tintswalo Sibeko, the robbery took place at around 09:50 when one suspect entered the store pretending to be a customer before forcing entry. Another suspect smashed display cases while others grabbed jewellery. The group then fled the scene in a hijacked vehicle, but were later intercepted and arrested following a coordinated response by the SAPS Tshwane District Stabilisation Team and private security.
