Pretoria – President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation on Sunday evening regarding the government’s approach to illegal migration and the recent surge in protests targeting foreign nationals across South Africa.
According to an announcement issued by the South African Government, the President is scheduled to speak at 18:00 on Sunday, 7 June 2026, from the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The address comes amid growing public concern over illegal immigration, border security and increasing demonstrations in several communities calling for stricter action against undocumented foreign nationals. In recent weeks, tensions have escalated as some groups have demanded stronger enforcement of immigration laws and the deportation of individuals residing in the country illegally.
The government has repeatedly stated that immigration-related challenges must be addressed within the framework of the Constitution and the rule of law, while balancing national security concerns and South Africa’s international obligations.
The President is expected to outline the government’s management approach to illegal migration and address concerns arising from the recent protests against foreign nationals.
