Residents in parts of Tshwane are being urged to prepare for a scheduled water supply interruption later this week, as the municipality carries out essential infrastructure upgrades.
The City has confirmed that a planned shutdown will affect areas supplied by the Babelegi Reservoir and Tower on Thursday, 26 March 2026. The interruption is expected to last for approximately 10 hours, from 07:00 to 17:00.
According to officials, the shutdown is necessary to allow for the installation of an inlet and bypass system on the reservoir meter—work aimed at improving long-term water supply efficiency and reliability.
Areas to be affected include: Kekana, Refilwe, Mandela Village, Marokolong, Ramotse, Babelegi Industries, Rockville, and Leboneng.
The City has apologised for the inconvenience caused and has called on residents to use water sparingly during this period. Community members are encouraged to take precautionary measures ahead of the shutdown and reduce unnecessary water usage.
Residents are advised to avoid watering gardens, washing vehicles, cleaning pavements with hosepipes, and filling swimming pools. Simple steps such as turning off taps while brushing teeth and limiting toilet flushing can also help conserve water.
