Mahikeng Crime Activist Gunned Down at Home

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched an intensive manhunt following the murder of Mahikeng-born crime activist and traditional healer, Mr Thato Molosankwe, who was shot and killed at his home in Lomanyaneng village in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to North West police, Molosankwe was attacked at his residence, where he sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities confirmed that he died at the scene.

Acting National Commissioner of the SAPS, Puleng Dimpane, has instructed the North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Ryno Naidoo, to ensure that maximum resources are deployed to track down those responsible for the killing.

Police have strongly condemned the murder, describing Molosankwe as a vocal anti-crime activist who worked closely with law enforcement and communities in the fight against crime and corruption. He was also recognised for helping strengthen relations between the police and local residents.

In a statement, Lt Gen Dimpane assured the community that investigators would leave “no stone unturned” in ensuring the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.

The Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit has since taken over the investigation.

  1. It’s so sad that we can never be safe, if activists are being killed this simply means we are far from being safe from criminals activities. Then what happens after the culprits are found? Get a light sentencing and get out on good behavior? Okay that’s South Africa for you
