Water Supply Gradually Restored in Ga-Rankuwa, Winterveldt, and Klipgat After Valve Fault Fixed

Residents of Ga-Rankuwa, Winterveldt, and parts of Klipgat can expect a steady return of water after the City of Tshwane successfully repaired a faulty valve that had disrupted supply across the region.

City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo confirmed on Wednesday that water and sanitation teams had traced the outage to a damaged valve in the main distribution network. The fault had interrupted water flow to several reservoirs, leaving many households in the northwestern parts of Tshwane without water for nearly a full day.

“The valve has been repaired and reopened, allowing the system to start refilling pipelines and reservoirs,” Mashigo said. “Residents will begin to notice water returning, although some areas might still experience low pressure as the network stabilises.”

Mashigo explained that the restoration process is gradual to ensure even pressure distribution and avoid further strain on the system. He urged residents to use water sparingly during the recovery phase to help it balance more efficiently.

“We’re closely monitoring the network to make sure all households regain consistent access,” he added. “If no further complications arise, full restoration is expected by the evening of October 8.”

The metro has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation.

Mashigo emphasised the city’s ongoing commitment to improving its infrastructure. “Reliable water supply remains one of our top priorities, and we will continue working to ensure sustainable service delivery to all residents,” he said.
