DJ Warras murder case: Bail hearing postponed amid CCTV footage dispute

The bail application of Victor Majola, the man accused of murdering popular Johannesburg DJ and security entrepreneur Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, has been postponed to Thursday as both the state and the defence attempt to resolve outstanding issues related to CCTV evidence.

Majola is facing charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit a crime following the fatal shooting of DJ Warras outside a building in Johannesburg last month. At the time of his death, Stock’s security company had been contracted to provide security services at the premises.

During proceedings on Wednesday, the court heard that crucial CCTV footage from a nearby butchery is no longer available, raising questions about the evidentiary record ahead of the bail hearing.

Presiding magistrate Annalise Tlhapi agreed to roll the matter over to allow both parties additional time to address the issue and make further submissions to the court.

“The matter is rolled over until tomorrow for both the state and the defence, who still want to finalise what they intend to submit to the court regarding the issue of the video footage, after which the court will make a ruling,” Magistrate Tlhapi said.

The case is expected to resume on Thursday, when the court will consider the parties’ submissions before proceeding with the bail application.
