The City of Tshwane’s Community and Social Development Services Department will host an Indigent Registration Awareness Campaign on 11 June 2026 at Mchoma Park, Ward 89, from 09:00 to 15:00. The initiative aims to assist low-income residents by providing information on affordable basic services and support programmes available through the municipality and partner institutions, including SASSA and TUT Legal.

Applicants must also not own additional fixed property and must be 18 years or older, except in specific legal circumstances.

Registered indigent households qualify for several benefits, including 12 kilolitres of free water per month, 100 kilowatts of free electricity per month, free waste and sewage removal services, and exemptions from certain rates and taxes.

Applicants are required to bring certified copies of supporting documents, including proof of income or unemployment, identity documents, the latest municipal account, proof of grants where applicable, birth certificates of children, bank statements, and other relevant documents depending on their circumstances. The City has encouraged eligible residents to attend the campaign and take advantage of the support available.
