328 Suspects Arrested in Major Tshwane Crime Operation

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Tshwane, in collaboration with various law enforcement partners, arrested 328 suspects during a large-scale, zero-tolerance crime operation on Saturday, 25 October 2025.

The operation, which took place in the Garsfontein and Boschkop policing precincts, was conducted under the command of the District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine. Partners included the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Community Safety, the Department of Correctional Services, and local Community Policing Forum members.

Detectives led the initiative by tracing and arresting 251 wanted suspects for serious crimes, including:

  • Seven for murder
  • Nine for rape
  • Two for armed robbery
  • One for attempted murder

Concurrently, operational teams and a roadblock component maintained a strong street presence, leading to the detention of 42 undocumented foreign nationals, who were handed over to immigration authorities for processing.

The operation also yielded the following results:

  • 608 persons and 242 vehicles searched.
  • 110,520 ml of liquor confiscated after inspections at 11 liquor outlets.
  • Three liquor outlets closed for non-compliance with the Liquor Act.
  • Nine individuals fined for public drinking.
  • One suspect arrested for dealing in drugs (49 ziplock bags of dagga and cash confiscated).

Further detective work led to additional arrests for fraud, assault, malicious damage to property, and theft. Traffic officials issued six AARTO infringement notices to the value of R4,000.

The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, expressed his appreciation to all participating departments and stakeholders for their collaboration and dedication to ensuring the safety and security of Tshwane residents.
