TWO PEOPLE DEAD AND ONE CRITICALLY INJURED IN SHOOTING INCIDENT IN PRETORIA NORTH

The South African Police Service in Pretoria North is investigating a shooting that happened at about 06:30 on Wednesday morning at the Areyeng bus stop on Paul Kruger Street in Pretoria North.

According to the information available, a 38-year-old man was driving north in a white Kia sedan when he stopped, got out with a firearm, and approached a white Nissan Almera occupied by a 28-year-old male driver and a 26-year-old female passenger. The suspect reportedly fired several shots at the two occupants.

The Nissan Almera continued moving forward for about 150 metres before coming to a stop. The suspect then turned the firearm on himself and took his own life.

Emergency medical services arrived on the scene. The 26-year-old female passenger was declared dead, and the 28-year-old driver was stabilised and taken to Kalafong Hospital in critical condition.

Crime Scene Management officials are on the scene collecting evidence to support the investigation. The firearm used in the incident has been recovered and will undergo forensic testing.

Cases of murder, attempted murder, and an inquest have been opened and are under investigation.
