Members of the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Drug Unit have arrested an adult male in Soshanguve for contravening the Medicines Act.
The arrest was made on 09 September 2026 during a follow-up operation that began in Heatherly and continued to Soshanguve.
According to the TMPD Communication Unit, officers were acting on information about a contravention of the Medicines Act when they searched the suspect. Officers had reasonable grounds to believe the man was notoriously known for mishandling medication in the area.
During the search, officers found medications in the suspect’s possession and he could not fully account for them when questioned.
He was subsequently arrested for contravening the Medicines Act and detained at a local police station.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the TMPD to clamp down on the illegal handling and distribution of medicines in Tshwane.
