Reports circulating on 8 September have named Arthur Zwane, the 52-year-old AmaZulu head coach, as the leading candidate to join Pitso Mosimane’s technical team as the second assistant coach for Bafana Bafana. Zwane, affectionately known by his iconic nickname “10111” or “Mangethe,” is being considered to complete the backroom staff ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the first match against Guinea fast approaching.
Since taking sole charge of AmaZulu in October 2024, Zwane has transformed the Durban-based outfit into a formidable force, guiding them to top-four finishes in the DStv Premiership and leaving them currently perched in fifth position. His tactical acumen and man-management skills have drawn widespread praise, making him a natural fit for Mosimane’s vision of blending experienced heads with fresh ideas.
Mosimane has already assembled a core team of assistants, including Musi Matlaba, Kabelo Rangoago, and Morena Ramorobeli. The addition of Zwane would bring further depth and local know-how, particularly given his intimate understanding of the domestic player pool.
However, the potential move has sparked a lively debate among fans.
