Trump Endorses Lone Gunman Theory in JFK Assassination, But Hints at Accomplices

In a wide-ranging interview aboard Air Force One, President Donald Trump revealed his long-held belief that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in assassinating President John F. Kennedy, while simultaneously suggesting the killer may have had help from shadowy forces.

The comments came during a conversation with Clay Travis of OutKick, as Trump discussed his recent executive order to declassify documents related to several high-profile historical events, including the JFK assassination.

When asked directly if he believed Oswald was the sole perpetrator, Trump affirmed, “I do and I’ve always felt that.” However, he immediately followed this statement by posing the question that has fueled decades of conspiracy theories: “Of course, was he helped?”

This rhetorical hint keeps the door open to speculation that powerful entities like the CIA, the Mafia, or foreign governments could have been involved, despite all official investigations concluding that Oswald acted alone.

The release of the final batch of 80,000 JFK documents, which Trump ordered to be published without redactions, ultimately failed to deliver the explosive revelations that some conspiracy theorists had anticipated. The president himself acknowledged the anti-climax, stating, “I think the papers have turned out to be somewhat unspectacular and maybe that’s a good thing.” The disclosure was instead criticized for inadvertently revealing private information like individuals’ Social Security numbers.

The JFK files are part of a broader transparency push by the Trump administration, which has also moved to declassify records related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, and the September 11th attacks.
