The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations Regarding Efforts or Attempts to Stop the Investigation or Prosecution of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) cases will on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, hear oral arguments in a high-profile recusal application.
The application seeks the removal of the Inquiry’s Chief Evidence Leader, Advocate Ishmael Semenya SC. It was brought forward by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development together with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
According to the Commission, proceedings will take place at the SAP Auditorium on the third floor of the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown, Johannesburg. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00.
The Commission confirmed that all documents related to the matter, along with additional information, are available on its official website. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and seating can be booked online.
The TRC Cases Inquiry reiterated that all its hearings remain open to the public as part of its commitment to transparency.
