Shebe Maburna’s Bail Appeal Dismissed, Accused to Remain Behind Bars

The bail appeal application in the Lehlogonolo Chauke known as Shebe Maburna’s case was dismissed in under five minutes on Friday, dealing another setback to the controversial musician’s legal bid for freedom.

The brief court appearance saw the magistrate reject the appeal, confirming that Lehlogonolo will remain in custody. He is expected to return to court on 19 January 2026 for further proceedings.

This latest development follows earlier court sittings in which Lehlogonolo’s initial bail application was postponed and later denied, with the State opposing his release. Prosecutors previously argued that the accused posed a risk and that the seriousness of the charges warranted continued detention while investigations continue.

It is said that the case has drawn significant public attention, particularly on social media, where supporters and critics have closely followed each court appearance. Outside court, tensions have occasionally been high, with calls from some quarters for the matter to be concluded swiftly.
