The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially released its payment calendar for November 2025, providing millions of beneficiaries across the country with clear dates for the disbursement of social grants. The schedule maintains the familiar staggered payment approach to ensure efficient processing and manage congestion at pay points.
According to the confirmed schedule, grant payments will unfold as follows:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 4 November 2025
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 5 November 2025
- Children’s and all other grants: Thursday, 6 November 2025
In a separate process, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant will continue to be paid in batches throughout the month and not on the specific days allocated for the permanent grants.
Alongside the payment dates, SASSA has reiterated a crucial update to its application procedure aimed at strengthening the integrity of the social grant system. In a continued effort to combat fraud and ensure that grants reach the intended beneficiaries, the agency has confirmed that mandatory biometric enrolment is now in effect for all new applicants.
This measure, which was implemented from 1 September 2025, requires every individual applying for a grant for the first time to undergo a fingerprint scan or facial recognition scan. This advanced security step is designed to prevent duplicate applications and identity fraud, safeguarding vital state resources for those who genuinely qualify. Existing grant recipients are not required to reapply and are not affected by this new enrolment mandate for now.
The announcement provides much-needed clarity for households that rely on these payments for their essential needs, allowing them to plan accordingly for the month of November.
