Pretoria North Residents Urged to Participate in Community Policing Elections

The Pretoria North Community Policing Forum (CPF) is calling on residents to help shape the safety and security of their neighbourhoods by participating in the upcoming Sector 1 and Sector 2 management elections on October 30.

The elections will be held at the SAPS Pretoria North precinct. Key leadership positions—including chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, vice-secretary, treasurer, and patrol coordinator—are open for Sector 1, with several roles also available in Sector 2.

“The CPF is a platform where residents and SAPS work together to create safer environments,” said CPF spokesperson Lebo Moloi. “We encourage community members who are passionate about safety, accountability, and service to step forward and be part of the change.”

Moloi stressed that the CPF relies on active public participation to strengthen collaboration with law enforcement. Voting and leadership involvement are vital for improving police-community communication, coordinating neighbourhood patrols, and addressing local issues like drug abuse, petty crime, and illegal dumping.

“It’s not just about attending meetings; it’s about being the eyes and ears of the community. Every resident has a role to play, whether by standing for a leadership position or casting their vote,” Moloi added.

Only registered members of Sectors 1 and 2 who are present at the election meeting will be eligible to vote. Proxy votes will not be permitted, and voters may cast one ballot per position. Nominations for candidates close 72 hours before the election, with original, signed forms to be submitted at the SAPS Pretoria North Community Service Centre.

The CPF emphasized that a strong management structure ensures better coordination with SAPS and reinforces the integrity of community policing.

“When communities unite behind their CPF, they send a strong message that safety is everyone’s responsibility,” Moloi said. “We look forward to seeing Pretoria North residents show up, vote, and be part of building safer streets for all.”
