Popular Citro-Soda Products Recalled Nationwide

The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) has issued an urgent recall of certain Citro-Soda products across South Africa which begin with batch number C, raising concerns among consumers who regularly use the popular remedy for indigestion and heartburn.

The recall, which took effect on 17 March 2026, affects Citro-Soda Regular 60g, 120g, and the 4g sachets sold in packs of 30 manufactured in Clayville. These products are commonly found in many households, making the announcement particularly alarming.

SAHPRA has urged anyone who has purchased the affected products to stop using them immediately, check their packaging, and follow guidance provided through official communication channels. Consumers can also verify if their product batches are impacted.

The authority says the recall is part of its responsibility to ensure that all health products sold to the public are safe, effective, and of good quality. While more details are still expected, the move highlights the importance of staying alert when it comes to everyday medicines.
