Planned Power Outage to Hit Soshanguve and Rosslyn for Maintenance Work

The City of Tshwane has announced a planned power supply interruption that will affect large parts of Soshanguve and the Rosslyn Automotive Supplier Park later this month.

In a media alert issued on Thursday, the City said the shutdown is necessary to carry out essential maintenance work at the K3 Substation. The outage is scheduled for Sunday, 23 November 2025, and will last seven hours, from 09:00 until 16:00.

According to the statement, the maintenance is required to allow the Technical Support and Technology Management Section to repair a damaged fibre cable. The damaged cable has affected protection inter-trip systems and SCADA communication links on the 132kV lines between primary substations.

The City cautioned that the work will have a significant impact on consumers in the affected areas.

“The maintenance work will unfortunately affect the entire Soshanguve township and Rosslyn Automotive Supplier Park,” read the statement

Residents are also urged to treat all electricity network points as live throughout the shutdown period.
