Ndlovu Inspires Golden Arrows to Commanding Victory Over Orbit College

Buoyed by their historic midweek win, Lamontville Golden Arrows carried their momentum into a dominant 3-0 triumph over Orbit College at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, securing back-to-back league victories for the first time this season.

The hero of the match was undoubtedly Siyanda Ndlovu, who was instrumental in all three goals, delivering a masterclass with two assists and a stunning strike of his own. The comprehensive win propels Abafana Bes’thende to fifth place on the log, while Orbit College remains perilously close to the bottom.

Arrows exploded out of the gates, taking the lead in just the fourth minute. Ndlovu’s relentless pressure forced a turnover on the edge of the box, and he selflessly squared the ball for Sede Junior Dion to tap into an empty net for his fifth goal of the campaign.

Ndlovu then turned from provider to scorer in the 22nd minute. Catching Orbit napping, he latched onto a quick Philangenkosi Khumalo free-kick, drove into the right side of the box, and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Even with a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead, Arrows’ coach demonstrated his intent, making a triple substitution to start the second half. The pressure continued, and the third goal arrived in the 72nd minute, with the irrepressible Ndlovu once again at the heart of the action. He powered down the right flank before cutting the ball back for substitute Jerome Karelse to slot home and seal the points.

The only dampener on the afternoon was a late thigh injury to Alwande Booysen, who had to be stretchered off, forcing Arrows to finish the match with 10 men.

Both teams now shift their focus to the Carling Knockout, with Arrows set to host Sekhukhune United and Orbit College welcoming TS Galaxy next Saturday.
