Motorists travelling through Pretoria’s central business district are being urged to prepare for major traffic disruptions on Tuesday, 30 June, as a planned march against undocumented foreign nationals is expected to affect several key roads.
According to the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD), the demonstration, organised by March and March, will begin at Church Square at 10:00 before proceeding to the Sunnyside Police Station.
The march will travel along Paul Kruger Street, Francis Baard Street, Lillian Ngoyi Street, Madiba Street, Nelson Mandela Drive, Kotze Street, Van Boeschoten Avenue, Robert Sobukwe Street and Leyds Street.
In a media alert, the TMPD said: “Take note that there will be a march on Tuesday, 30 June 2026 by March and March.”
The department added that “the marchers will gather at Church Square in Pretoria Central by 10:00 and proceed to Sunnyside Police Station.”
Authorities have warned that no vehicles will be allowed at the gathering point, while motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes, including Nana Sita Street, Visagie Street, Justice Mahomed Street, Jeff Masemola Street, Bosman Street, Johannes Ramokhoase Street, Struben Street, Bloed Street, Kgosi Mampuru Street and Es’kia Mphahlele Drive.
TMPD also confirmed that buses transporting participants will have a designated drop-off point at the corner of WF Nkomo Street and Bosman Street, while private vehicles will be directed to parking at the corner of Kgosi Mampuru and Madiba streets.
The march is expected to conclude at approximately 15:00, when participants disperse from the Sunnyside Police Station.
The department further assured residents that “The Tshwane Metro Police Department and South African Police Service officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.”
Motorists are advised to allow extra travelling time, follow the instructions of law enforcement officers and avoid the affected areas where possible.
