Parents and guardians who submitted applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 placement on 4 September 2026 but still have outstanding documents have until 12:00 noon on 11 September 2026 to submit or upload certified copies.
The Gauteng Department of Education is urging parents to check their application status and ensure that all required supporting documents have been submitted and verified, particularly certified proof of home address.
The warning comes after a high number of applications were received during the 2027 school admissions period. The department recorded 805,688 applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 before the system closed at midnight on 4 September.
Of these, 346,877 individual learners applied for placement, consisting of 169,396 Grade 1 learners and 177,481 Grade 8 learners. A total of 357,468 parents and guardians registered on the admissions system.
The department has cautioned that applications without the required documents by the deadline will be regarded as incomplete and will not receive placement offers.
Parents are also warned against submitting invalid, altered or fraudulent documents, as applications supported by fraudulent documentation may be rejected.
With thousands of applications being processed, parents are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to upload their outstanding documents. They should also ensure that documents are clear, legible, valid and properly certified where required.
Parents who have already completed their applications and submitted all supporting documents are advised to continue monitoring their application status and await further communication from the Gauteng Department of Education regarding placement outcomes.
The deadline for outstanding documents is 11 September 2026 at 12:00 noon.
