JOHANNESBURG – A secret CCTV recording, now presented as evidence before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, appears to show a police sergeant collecting a bag from the luxury home of Sandton businessman and murder accused, Katiso “KT” Molefe, in an encounter that has raised serious questions about police integrity.
The officer at the centre of the footage is Sergeant FE Nkosi, a member attached to Organised Crime in Gauteng, who has previously been named as a key middleman in the flow of money between suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya and criminally accused tender tycoon, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala.
The Mysterious White Bag
The footage, captured on 27 November last year, shows Sergeant Nkosi arriving at Molefe’s Sandhurst home just after 4 p.m. Mere minutes later, at 4:09 p.m., he is escorted back to his state-issued white BMW. Crucially, he is seen carrying a large white paper bag that appears to be light in weight.
Testifying before the commission, Crime Intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo suggested the contents could be illicit, stating, “The picture is like he just came in to collect something that was already packed and waiting for pickup.” He described the bag as not looking “that heavy” but having “some contents,” alluding to the possibility that it contained bribe money.
A Pattern of Alleged Middleman Activity
This incident is not Sergeant Nkosi’s first appearance in the web of allegations surrounding high-level police officials. Last week, secret witnesses testified that Sibiya allegedly received R3.5 million in cash from Matlala, with Nkosi reportedly acting as the collector on several occasions.
This new footage places Nkosi directly at the home of another high-profile accused, Katiso Molefe, just days before his arrest. Molefe was taken into custody on 7 December in an operation that was allegedly plagued with interference from the Hawks, adding another layer of complexity to the case.
The presentation of this CCTV evidence to the Madlanga Commission significantly intensifies the scrutiny on Sergeant Nkosi and the shadowy financial dealings he is alleged to have facilitated, painting a picture of a police insider deeply entangled with figures accused of serious crimes.
