Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is set to deliver South Africa’s 2026 Budget Speech in the National Assembly on Wednesday at 14:00, outlining how the government plans to allocate financial resources for the year ahead.
The much-anticipated address will take place at the Parliament Dome in Cape Town, where the minister will detail how funds will be directed toward the country’s key priorities as highlighted by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the 2026 State of the Nation Address (#SONA2026).
During the Budget Speech, Godongwana is expected to present a comprehensive breakdown of government spending plans, revenue projections and measures aimed at supporting economic growth, stabilising public finances and strengthening service delivery. The speech will provide insight into how resources will be distributed across national departments and programmes in response to the country’s social and economic challenges.
In the same plenary sitting, the minister will introduce the Appropriation Bill and table the 2026 Division of Revenue Bill. These legislative instruments are central to the budget process, as they determine how funds are allocated between national, provincial and local spheres of government. Parliament will debate and process the bills in the months that follow.
The 2026 Budget Speech forms a critical part of South Africa’s fiscal calendar, setting the financial framework for the year and signalling the government’s policy direction under the banner of #Budget2026.
