Limpopo police have opened a culpable homicide investigation following the tragic death of local artist Molimisi “Dr Nel” Baatsi, a 31-year-old rising star whose life was abruptly ended on a village road in the early hours of Sunday, November 2, 2025.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the grim discovery was made around 04h00 on Phetogo Drive. Officers responding to a distress call found the body of the Tshwara Fase hitmaker lying face down. Paramedics from Witpoort Emergency Services arrived promptly but could only confirm the somber reality: Baatsi was declared dead at the scene.
The hours leading up to the tragedy paint a picture of an artist in his element. Preliminary reports indicate that Baatsi had been the star performer hours earlier at the grand opening of a local pub, where he electrified the crowd with his signature sound.
