The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Tshwane, supported by various law enforcement agencies, arrested 316 suspects during an intensified crime-prevention operation on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
The zero-tolerance operation, commanded by District Commissioner Major-General Samuel Thine, targeted the Temba and Hammanskraal policing precincts. It is part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety across the city ahead of the festive season.
Detectives led the initiative, tracing and arresting 270 wanted suspects for serious crimes, including:
- 1 for murder
- 14 for attempted murder
- 6 for armed robbery
- 3 for rape
Concurrently, operational teams and a roadblock unit maintained a high-visibility presence, leading to the following results:
- 18 undocumented foreign nationals detained for immigration processing.
- 1 employer arrested and fined for hiring undocumented persons.
- 637 individuals and 206 vehicles searched.
- 33 vehicles verified for possible theft.
- 551,663 ml of liquor confiscated; several outlets closed for non-compliance.
- 2 suspects arrested for drug dealing (crystal meth and 15.6kg of dagga seized).
- 1 suspect arrested for robbery; a replica firearm was seized.
District Commissioner Thine expressed his appreciation to all participating departments and stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to creating safer communities.
