The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of electricity cables at the Pretoria West Power Station.
According to the TMPD, the arrest was made on Saturday, 18 July 2026, after security personnel alerted authorities to suspected trespassing at the power station.
The TMPD Cable Theft Unit was immediately dispatched to the scene. On arrival, officers allegedly found the suspect in possession of suspected stolen electricity cables.
The man was arrested and is currently being detained at a local police station. He is expected to appear in court on charges of tampering with essential infrastructure and possession of suspected stolen property.
TMPD Chief of Police Commissioner Yolanda Faro praised the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and commitment to protecting critical infrastructure.
