Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has visited the family of the late Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo in Kempton Park, following her tragic murder.
Lesufi was accompanied by Gauteng Social Development MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, COGTA MEC Jacob Mamabolo and Gauteng Community Safety Acting Head of Department Roche Mogorosi during the visit.
The provincial government said the Premier expressed his heartfelt condolences to Moselakgomo’s family and offered support and solidarity during what it described as a difficult time.
Moselakgomo, 38, was reported missing on 9 September after leaving her home in Rhodesfield to go for a run. Her body was later found and positively identified by her family at the Germiston mortuary. Police are investigating her death alongside a number of other cases involving women whose bodies have been found in and around Kempton Park and Olifantsfontein.
The SAPS has established a multidisciplinary team to investigate the cases and determine whether there are links between them. Police have not confirmed that the deaths are connected.
The Gauteng government says the visit forms part of its support to the affected family as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Moselakgomo’s death continue.
