The City of Tshwane has launched a limited-time Debt Relief Programme aimed at helping residents settle overdue municipal accounts and restore their accounts to good standing.
The programme, which officially started on 1 July 2026, will run until 31 December 2026, giving qualifying residents six months to take advantage of the relief measures.
In a social media announcement on Thursday, the City urged customers with outstanding municipal debt to come forward and make use of the initiative before the deadline.
“You have a chance to fix your account,” the City said, encouraging residents to act while the programme is available.
According to the City, the Debt Relief Programme is intended to assist residents in resolving overdue municipal accounts while improving payment compliance and strengthening the municipality’s revenue collection.
The City has called on eligible residents not to wait until the last minute, saying the programme presents an opportunity to reduce outstanding debt and get municipal accounts back on track before it closes at the end of December.
