Gauteng Celebrates Teachers on World Teachers’ Day

Gauteng is joining the rest of the country in celebrating teachers and the important role they play in shaping the future of young people.

On Monday, 5 October 2026, Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile, paid tribute to educators as the world marks World Teachers’ Day.

MEC Maile praised teachers for their commitment, passion and dedication to education, highlighting their role in changing lives, inspiring learners and helping build a better future.

The department also recognised the countless educators who continue to empower young minds and make a difference in their communities.

As the province celebrates World Teachers’ Day, the message is clear — teachers remain an important part of building a stronger Gauteng, one learner at a time.
