Forum4SA calls for Mantashe’s removal over rising fuel prices

Forum for South Africa is calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to fire Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe, amid growing anger over the rising cost of fuel.

The call comes as South Africans face another major fuel-price increase. From 7 October, petrol 93 rises by R3.12 a litre, while 95 petrol goes up by R3.33. Diesel prices have also increased by more than R2.80 and R3.19 a litre.

Forum4SA says Mantashe should be held accountable for the government’s handling of the fuel crisis, particularly as higher fuel costs are putting further pressure on motorists, commuters, businesses and household budgets.

The organisation wants Ramaphosa to take action against Mantashe as South Africans struggle with the impact of increasingly expensive fuel. The latest increases have also raised concerns about further pressure on the cost of living and inflation.
