Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance has stepped in with a transformative donation of US$40,000 (approximately R660,000) to Rachel Kolisi’s Falling Forward Foundation, a grassroots organisation dedicated to uplifting under-resourced communities in South Africa. The funding will directly support the foundation’s Healthcare Initiative, delivered in partnership with The Impilo Project, a collaborative effort focused on bringing essential wellness services to those who would otherwise go without.
The substantial contribution arrived at a critical juncture, closing the remaining funding gap that had threatened to stall the programme. As a result, some 670 people across multiple communities will now receive comprehensive medical, dental, mental health, and social support services—care that many of them have been unable to access for years due to cost and geographic barriers. For mothers unable to afford dental check-ups, children suffering from untreated ailments, and adults battling mental health challenges in silence, this intervention is nothing short of life-changing.
Binance’s decision to back the Falling Forward Foundation was driven by the organisation’s demonstrated track record of grassroots impact. “We look for partners who are already doing the work effectively, not starting from scratch,” a Binance spokesperson explained. “Rachel and her team have proven that they understand their communities and deliver results.” The donation is part of Binance’s broader continental strategy, which has seen the company invest heavily in education, financial inclusion, and digital skills development across Africa. This latest move reinforces the company’s belief that sustainable change begins at the community level.
