A 62-year-old woman has been arrested for the alleged possession and dealing of drugs in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department’s (TMPD) Drug Unit arrested on Friday, 18 September 2026, following a tip-off from community members about an alleged drug-dealing operation involving a woman and her son.
According to the TMPD, officers launched an investigation after receiving the information and later located a woman who matched the description provided by residents. During a physical search, officers allegedly found a quantity of crystal methamphetamine in her possession.
The TMPD says the woman admitted that the drugs belonged to her son and allegedly told officers that she was assisting him with the operation while he was away.
The 62-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is currently being detained at a local police station. She is expected to appear in court soon, where she will face charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.
The TMPD has commended members of the community for providing information that led to the arrest, saying cooperation between residents and law enforcement remains important in tackling drug-related crime across the City of Tshwane.
