The City of Tshwane, in partnership with Rand Water, will carry out the replacement of four critical valves at the Garsfontein Reservoir from 18:00 on Wednesday, 30 September, until 06:00 on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
The work is aimed at strengthening the bulk water supply system, reducing water losses and limiting the duration of future water interruptions during maintenance and emergency repairs.
Residents in several areas supplied by the Garsfontein Reservoir system may experience water interruptions or reduced pressure during the shutdown. Affected areas include parts of Mamelodi, Silvertondale, Waltloo, Eesterust, Moreleta Park, Elardus Park, Garsfontein, Lynnwood, Faerie Glen, Equestria, Die Wilgers, Wapadrand, Kilner Park and Wonderboom, among others.
The City says its technical teams will also undertake fencing and structural repairs at the reservoir while the shutdown is in progress.
Residents in affected areas are advised to store enough water in advanceand use it sparingly during the maintenance period.
